Telenor Infra Norway, Telenor Tower Sweden and DNA Tower Finland unites into a Nordic organisation set-up, forming Telenor Towers. The move is part of the strategy to become not only the biggest, but also the leading tower company in the Nordics.

By combining resources, expertise, and experience from our Nordic markets, Telenor Towers can leverage diversity and create synergies that result in a stronger and more sustainable business.  A joint company will also contribute to increased efficiency by sharing resources and expertise across the Nordic countries.

– Uniting our forces in the Nordic region will not only benefit our customers, but it will also make us more competitive and lean in our operations. It also aligns with our strategic ambition of having a united and empowered team, profitable growth, and sustainable and efficient operations, says Christina Endresen, CEO in Telenor Towers.

The new corporate structure has a network comprising more than 20,000 sites across Norway, Sweden and Finland. The extensive network includes an array of masts, towers, rooftops, and buildings/equipment cabins, solidifying the Telenor Towers’ presence and influence across the Nordic region.

– The industry is changing, and the demands on us as a supplier are increasing. This means that we must both work smarter and be able to offer solutions to our customers that are at the very forefront. At the same time, we have a responsibility, both to partners and customers, to find new and more sustainable ways to run our company. Therefore, sustainability is one of our most important initiatives going forward, Christina Endresen continues.

Even with the change in name, Telenor Towers retains its team of highly skilled and service-oriented people, all united by the common mission of leading the industry and going the extra mile to deliver cutting-edge digital infrastructure solutions in the Nordic region.

Working with 25 different technical departments to compress and modernize our infrastructure is an incredible opportunity to generate value for society and a more sustainable use of our city spaces, while realizing asset value for Telenor.’.

Contributing to a sustainable future

As the Director of the Movie Program, my job is to lead a team of project managers and specialists across more than 25 technical departments in Telenor to restructure and modernize 83 of our largest telecom sites in Norway. This includes close collaboration with a large stakeholder landscape of more than 60 business customers, a range of specialized contractors and over 60 real estate developers.

What we do entails a 90% compression of the footprint used for telecom centrals, that provide key cellular and internet connectability in the major cities and urban areas. Our compression and modernization of legacy technologies enable a significant reduction in electricity consumption. We free up large buildings and real estate, which are then developed into apartments and homes in areas with a high need, generating value for society and a more sustainable use of our city spaces. The asset value we realize, allows Telenor to channel more funds to developing our company to be a sustainable leader.

I think the work that we do is incredibly fulfilling because it gives me the opportunity to be part of a transformative initiative that creates value for Telenor and society, building a better and more sustainable future.

Why pursue a career in telecom?

At an early age I wanted to become a Cand. “Alt”. With time, my interest in sciences, logic, building and creating crystalized this into wanting to become an engineer. I hold an MSc. (Siv.ing.) in Industrial Economics and Technology Management from NTNU in Trondheim. Before I started in telecom, I worked within Management Consulting, Oil&Gas, and Research in 6 different countries.

What eventually drove me to pursue a career within telecom, is the opportunity to be a part of a team that plays a vital role in connecting Norway. With a focus on building and maintaining world-class, sustainable, and critical telecommunications infrastructure, Telenor Towers serves as the very foundation of our modern information society, and is poised to revolutionize how we connect, communicate, and interact in the years to come. The focus on innovation is one of the things that highly motivates me about my job. I really enjoy working for an organization that allows me to drive innovation and improvements and that is committed to staying at the forefront of technological advancements and digital transformation.
